Email subscriptions
If you sign up to receive a guide or updates, we collect your email address and store it with our email service provider, Mailchimp. We use it to send you what you asked for and occasional updates about the book and related resources. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.
Comments
When visitors leave comments we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service; their privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Media
If you upload images to this site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract location data from images on a website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies, so you don’t have to fill them in again. These last one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie determines whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Logging in sets additional cookies to save your login information and display choices; login cookies last two days, screen options a year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login to two weeks. Logging out removes them.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos or images. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell or share your personal data. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically. Email subscribers are retained until they unsubscribe.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account, have left comments, or have subscribed, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
